who we are

SAMURAI

Well, perhaps not by pedigree but certainly in spirit. Actually, if you meet us in public we look pretty ordinary... much like you. What sets us apart is our commitment—to keep alive the traditional martial arts of Japan through study and training. And our mission, when the situation calls for it—to act decisively and effectively in defense of country, community, and family.

what we do

TRAINING

Members enjoy convenient and affordable access to the traditional martial arts of Japan. Membership entails a commitment to martial arts training, keiko and shugyo, both in class and out of class. Serious old-style martial arts training produces not only practical physical skills, but mental and spiritual benefits as well.

CENTER

A traditional Japanese dojo is not like a sport martial arts studio, even less like a gymnasium. The term dojo means "place of the Way," where Way refers to a spiritual journey that aims for enlightenment. Perhaps the best metaphor for dojo is really 'temple.' A traditional dojo is an austere space where students "polish" their manners, spirit, and heart through intense training.
